Season Opener - The Sunset Music Series and the Isthmus present: Trapper Schoepp Full Band Show (Milwaukee, WI) with Simon Balto - Lakeside
Trapper Schoepp has the ear of a troubadour, the eye of a journalist and the heart of a young poet. In 2012, he released his national debut Run, Engine, Run with his band The Shades on Side One Dummy Records as a love letter to their beloved home state of Wisconsin. The album’s mix of rocking tunes and sweet Americana-laced tales has helped pave the way for the group to share stages all over the country alongside such kindred spirits as The Wallflowers,The Jayhawks, Old 97’s, Soul Asylum and more.
In addition to gaining respect from some of their favorite artists, Trapper has been featured in Rolling Stone, American Songwriter and Alternative Press – which gave Run, Engine, Run 4/5 stars and said that the “Replacements-meets-Uncle Tupelo influence rings clear. Trapper Schoepp can only get better.” Huffington Post calls 24-year-old Schoepp "A master storyteller." The band also was the recipient of 88.9 Radio Milwaukee’s 2012 Album of the Year and Wisconsin Area Music Industry’s 2012 Song of the Year.
Trapper and co. recently finished making a new album in Nashville, with Brendan Benson (The Raconteurs) producing. The 10-song record will be released in 2015 and features special guest performances by Brendan, Steve Selvidge (The Hold Steady), John Davis (Superdrag), The McCrary Sisters, Marc Maron and many more.
